BECOME A MEMBER OF JUSTICE FOR AFRICA

We are not your typical global campaign. We are a collective movement that is led by who we serve. Our governance is democratic and representative of our membership, with the majority of our leadership African student- and youth-led organisations.

By becoming a member organisation you will not just support Justice for Africa, you can help shape it.

Only civil society, not-for-profit organisations or groups can become full members of Justice for Africa, but these can be of any size. Our membership will always have a majority of youth- and student-led organisations in Africa.

As we believe in collective power, individuals cannot become members, but they can join the movement by becoming a supporters.

As a member you can decide how much you want to be involved in Justice for Africa. The responsibilities are very much dependent on how much interest, capacity and time each organisation has, there is no minimum or maximum type of engagement. However, as a vibrant, active movement, we hope that our members would be key Justice for Africa mobilisers, for example, sharing our content, actions and advocacy opportunities with their networks and helping to shape relationships with policy makers.

Also, as Justice for Africa is owned by our membership, by becoming a member you will also be part of the movement’s governance. Depending on your organisation’s type, and where you’re based, you will automatically join a constituency of other members that fit that criteria.

Each constituency is represented by their own trustee(s) on our legal trustee board based in Ghana. These trustees are voted for by you and are responsible for consulting with all member organisations in that constituency ahead of leadership meetings to share your perspectives in key campaign decisions. As a member you could even stand for election to be a trustee yourself.

You can become a supporter organisation by simply clicking the “JOIN US” button at the top of every page.

Justice for Africa is owned by our membership and becoming a member is the best route to help shape and lead campaign demands, priorities and activities as you have a direct route to governance.

Becoming a supporter is a great lighter way to show your support without access to movement leadership. Supporting organisations can also become members at a later date if they would like to be more involved and meet the membership criteria.

After filling in the form the campaign leadership will review your application and if you meet our criteria you will be contacted by the campaign to welcome you to the movement as a member and invited to join a member induction call.

Depending on where your organisation is based and if you are youth- or student-led, you will be allocated to a constituency in our governance structure and introduced to your constituency representative on our trustee board.

After this you’ll be added to the mailing-list for your constituency, introduced to other members, the national coalition lead for your country if one exists and receive regular campaign updates on upcoming actions and events as well as opportunities to share your organisation’s perspectives and priorities ahead of Board Meetings
